What was tested on the GNM-X formula?
The GNM-X label lists three extracts: rosemary leaf, ginger root and Sophora japonica bud. Pathways Bioscience published that same combination of plants, as PB123, in two studies:

Both measure what someone taking an activator is after: that Nrf2 switches on and the cell builds its own defenses.
What each extract does for Nrf2
Each plant brings a compound with its own study on the same switch, KEAP1, the protein that holds Nrf2 back:

How long does an Nrf2 activator take to work?
You can tell Nrf2 has switched on by the enzymes it turns on: HO-1, NQO1 and GCLC, the one that makes glutathione. Those are what rose in the studies above, within 16 hours in cells and two weeks in rats. That is also why an activator is not judged by how much antioxidant the capsule holds, but by what your cells make afterwards.

How GNM-X relates to epigenetics
Nrf2 is a transcription factor: when KEAP1 lets go, it moves into the nucleus and switches on protective genes. That is gene expression, and it is what the three extracts in GNM-X do.
Epigenetics is the layer above: chemical marks on DNA and its histones that decide which genes can be read. The two layers touch. The Nrf2 gene itself goes silent when its promoter is methylated (Yu et al., 2010, PMID 20062804), and curcumin and sulforaphane turned it back on in cells (PMID 21787756, PMID 23416117). Nrf2 in turn regulates the enzymes that write and erase those marks, HDACs and DNMTs, and how microRNAs are made (Silva-Llanes et al., 2023, PMID 36978889). The Pathways Bioscience scientists reviewed that genetic and epigenetic regulation of Nrf2 in 2023 (McCord, Gao and Hybertson, PMID 36829925).
